Managing High Conflict Personalities and Disputes

Managing High Conflict Personalities and Disputes

Bill Eddy presented a six-part training focused on understanding and managing high-conflict personalities in legal and therapeutic settings. Held over two days, the program covered the conflict dynamics of five high-conflict personality disorders and introduced the CARS Method®—a practical framework of four key skills for managing these personalities. The training also addressed the intersection of personality disorders and family violence, explored resistance and refusal dynamics in parenting disputes, and offered treatment strategies. Additionally, Eddy introduced New Ways for Families®, a skills training program for separated parents and children, and New Ways for Mediation®, a structured method designed to reduce conflict and improve outcomes in high-conflict disputes.
