Ethics & Risk: Managing difficult parent/child personalities in therapy and in Court. My client is in Court, Oh My!

Ethics & Risk: Managing difficult parent/child personalities in therapy and in Court. My client is in Court, Oh My!

Clients may come to you court-involved or the court involvement occurs while they are in treatment. Understanding how litigation affects your client and other family members is essential to improve your client’s functioning and reduce negative impacts on family members. In this workshop, participants explored how to manage difficult personalities, the impact of high conflict between parents on their children, responding to allegations of violence and abuse, and the impact of social media on high conflict situations. They also discussed professional responsibilities and ways to reduce the negative impact of treatment interventions on families who are court-involved.
