PROGRAM 1: Cognitive Behavior Therapy: Part 1 – Cognitive Therapy Rating Scale and Enhancing CBT Strategies in Session
September 9, 2023
PROGRAM SUMMARY:
This program was the first of a two-part advanced training on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for clinicians. It provided an in-depth discussion of the Cognitive Therapy Rating Scale (CTRS) and how to achieve CBT competence (Goldberg, 2020). The CTRS is the gold-standard rating scale for conducting CBT and was utilized in randomized control trials on CBT as well as for CBT certification. This talk focused on a comprehensive discussion of the eleven core features of CBT using the Cognitive Therapy Rating Scale (CTRS). The distinction between good vs. excellent CBT therapists was presented using case examples. Additionally, common challenges that arose during CBT sessions were placed in the context of the core CBT principles.
PROGRAM 2: Cognitive Behavior Therapy: Part 2 – Case Conceptualization
September 23, 2023
PROGRAM SUMMARY:
This program was the second of a two-part advanced training on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for clinicians. This workshop focused on a comprehensive discussion of CBT case conceptualization using the Case Review Rating Scale (CRRS), based on the approach outlined by Persons (2010). This method is the approach required for CBT certification, and an in-depth conceptualization of CBT is the foundation upon which CBT is conducted. Case conceptualization using the Case Review Scale (CRRS) was demonstrated using complex case examples. The workshop also discussed how the CRRS and a case conceptualization-based approach to CBT could be used to guide the implementation of strategic interventions in session with clients, as well as to enhance the delivery of competent CBT.
