Quality of Life Assessment (QOL) and Treatment Plan Development

Dr. Gust provided a comprehensive rationale for and an introduction to the Quality of Life (QOL) assessment, emphasizing its relevance in clinical and consulting contexts. He discussed the development and theoretical foundation of the Quality of Life Rating Scale (QOLRS), reviewing its intended purpose and application in diverse settings. As part of the session, Dr. Gust highlighted the distinction between objective and subjective QOL factors, guiding participants in recognizing how these different dimensions impact assessment and treatment planning.

Participants were given the opportunity to self-administer the QOLRS, score their responses, and analyze the results to better understand the assessment's structure and utility. Dr. Gust reviewed the scale’s psychometric properties, offering insight into its reliability and validity. He also presented practical examples of how the QOLRS has been applied in real-world clinical practice and consulting engagements, illustrating how QOL data can inform and enhance service delivery.

By the end of the session, participants were able to:
Recognize the differences between objective and subjective QOL factors.
Self-administer and score the Quality of Life Rating Scale and analyze its contributing factors.
Determine key components of a client-developed treatment plan based on QOL assessment results.
